Hey everyone,
I’m having an issue with my 2017 Polaris 800 Switchback Assault, and I’m hoping someone can help me out. It refuses to fire up and I’m not sure what’s going on. I’ve tried a few basic things like checking the fuel and spark plugs, but still no luck. It cranks, but just won’t turn over. Could it be something with the electrical system or maybe fuel delivery? Has anyone else run into this problem? Any ideas on what could be causing it not to kick into gear?

Since you mentioned the engine cranks but won’t turn over, the most likely culprit seems to be fuel delivery. I’d recommend checking the fuel pump and fuel pressure first, as a weak pump or clogged filter can cause this kind of issue. After that, inspect the spark plugs and ignition system to make sure there’s a strong enough spark for ignition on your Polaris 800 Switchback Assault snowmobile.
Good luck, and let us know what you find out!
Here are some of the most common reasons why a 2017 Polaris Switchback might have trouble starting. Based on your description, these areas are worth checking out to troubleshoot the problem.
Fuel System
First, let’s talk about fuel. Even if it seems obvious, fuel issues are one of the most frequent causes when an engine won’t turn over.
Electrical System
If fuel checks out, electrical components are often the next thing to inspect.
Fuel Pump
Engine Mechanical
Next, look at some basic mechanical checks that can help identify why the engine isn’t catching.
Engine Electrical
Lastly, some specific electrical components could be preventing your snowmobile from starting.
Hey everyone, thanks so much for all the advice! I went through and checked everything you guys suggested. Turns out, it was a fuel delivery issue just like a few of you pointed out. The fuel pump was weak, and after testing the pressure, it was way too low. I replaced the pump, and now my Polaris 800 Switchback Assault snowmobile is running like a champ again!
Appreciate all the help—saved me a ton of time and headache!
